Former Asante Kotoko head coach Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum has spoken about his role as Head of Coach Education at the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
In 2025, the Ghana Football Association appointed Ogum as the new Head of Coach Education, succeeding Desmond Ofei. In what was a major technical restructuring, Dr. Ogum also took over as head coach of the national U-17 team, the Black Starlets.
Speaking in an interview on the GFA Podcast, the coach has disclosed that he is enjoying both roles.
“I’m really enjoying it based on the fact that I’ve taught for 21 years, so I have the experience across all levels of education,” Dr. Ogum shared.
The former WAFA coach continued, “If you look at the structure of the coaching education department, we have to make sure that educating coaches becomes our core mandate at all levels. The grassroots, all the way to license A. So what we are supposed to do is to roll out programmes for prospective coaches and coaches who already have a license in the system.”
Meanwhile, coach Ogum has applauded the Ghana Football Association for investing in coaching education. He holds the view that paying attention to coaching education is crucial to developing football in the country.
