Minister for Railways Development and MP for Hohoe Constituency, John Peter Amewu has extended congratulations to the newly elected MP for the area, Efo Worlanyo Tsekpor.
In a congratulatory message on Facebook, the Minister called on his supporters to rally behind Efo Worlanyo Tsekpor in developing the Hohoe community.
Peter Amewu noted that despite the disappointment of the election outcome, his vision and commitment to build and develop Hohoe remains unchanged including providing support for Project Hohoe to be manifested.
“Earlier this morning I made a call to the newly elected MP to congratulate him and also assure him of my support to see Project Hohoe to a new level as he has promised. This agenda of his is in line with my previous goals and vision.
“I therefore call on all my supporters to rally behind the newly elected MP, Efo Worlanyo Tsekpor, so we can together build the United Hohoe that we all desire.
“Let us not consider our defeat as the end of our journey, it is just the beginning of a new chapter. The energy and passion demonstrated must continue to guide us as we forge ahead. Let us remain steadfast in our resolve, knowing that a brighter future is still within reach. If not today, tomorrow will launch better privileges,” he wrote on Facebook on Monday, December 9.
Reflecting on his journey as MP for the area, Peter Amewu applauded his efforts to better the lives of the constituents.
“I am glad that by God’s grace I have improved the lives of our people with the opportunities available to me in active politics; and I am committed to continuing in the same vein even in private life,” he added.
“This campaign was never about me but has always been about us, our community, and our collective desire for building Hohoe to the satisfaction of its citizens. From the tireless efforts of our volunteers to the enthusiastic turnout at every rally, your commitment has been the driving force behind everything we’ve achieved,” Peter Amewu said.
Although many tipped Mr. Amewu to retain his seat, he surprisingly lost the election by over 16,000 votes.
He polled 14,971 of 46,228 total valid votes while the NDC’s candidate polled 31,163 votes.
