Henry Quartey, who currently serves as the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso Central, has been defeated by Abdul-Rauf Tubazu of the National Democratic Congress in the 2024 parliamentary election.
The Electoral Commission’s results indicate that Abdul-Rauf Tubazu secured 29,755 votes, surpassing Henry Quartey’s 23,345 votes.
This development comes amidst ongoing vote collation and result announcements across various constituencies in Ghana following the 2024 general elections. The collation process is designed to uphold transparency and ensure credibility in the election outcomes.
Both major political parties, the NDC and the NPP, have addressed their supporters in separate press conferences. The NPP has called for calm and urged members to monitor the process responsibly, while the NDC has asked its followers to remain alert and refrain from premature celebrations until all results are officially declared.
The 2024 elections featured 13 presidential candidates and 807 parliamentary aspirants, making it one of the most hotly contested elections in the country’s history.
