Nana Agyemang Badu Duah I, chief of Kunsu, in the Ahafo Ano South West District of Ashanti region has urged Mr. Prince Oppong, the newly elected Presiding Member to ensure unity among the members of the Assembly, irrespective of their political affiliation, to accelerate the total development of the various electoral areas.
Speaking to the media after the inauguration of the newly elected Assembly Members and the Presiding Member, Nana Agyemang Duah stated that, there could be no development without unity among the members in championing the welfare of the people that elected them into the Assembly.
According to him, there should be co-existence, peace and unity between representatives of political parties during the elections.
Nana Kunsuhene also appealed to the government to improve their road networks, which has been a major problem for them.
He disclosed that their roads are in a bad shape and usually causes loss of lives.
He reiterated that even transporting their farm produce to the market centers has been a challenge to the farmers, hence the need for the government to intervene, based on his belief that when the roads are in good shape it would enhance total development.
Mr Prince Oppong, the newly elected Presiding Member also expressed his profound gratitude to the members of the Assembly for giving him the nod to preside over the functions and activities of the Assembly.
He expressed his commitment to work with all the members for the common goal of the district to improve on the living standards of the people that the Assembly represents.
The PM also entreated all the members to support him and work as a team towards a common developmental agenda.
The PM also appealed to the Ghana Education Service (GES), through the District Education Directorate to recruit new teachers for the schools, as a lot of them are lacking adequate teachers to fill the schools in the district.
Mr Joseph Frimpong Bonsu, the District Chief Executive (DCE), also advocated for the residents to support the Assembly by honouring their tax obligations to improve their revenue base for development.
He disclosed that the Assembly is liaising with the GES to recruit new teachers to fill the vacancies and the gaps of teachers in the area.
