Netherlands Ambassador to Ghana, Jeroen Verheul, says to ensure a sustainable and inclusive future for the country, young entrepreneurs must be fully equipped with the needed resources to boost their capacity.
Speaking at the Gazelle Pitch Day held at the Royal Netherlands Embassy, where the Orange Corners Ghana Programme’s 9th cohort were graduating, the Ambassador, expressed satisfaction with the kind of ingenuity displayed by the entrepreneurs.
“The Orange Corners Ghana programme truly exemplifies the power of partnerships in driving economic development. By equipping young entrepreneurs with mentorship, resources and market access, we are investing in a sustainable and inclusive future for Ghana.
“Today’s pitches demonstrate the talent and ingenuity of these young leaders, and we are excited about their journey ahead,” Ambassador Verheul said.
This year’s Gazelle Pitch Day encapsulates the ethos of Orange Corners Ghana programme -empowering entrepreneurs, strengthening ecosystems and fostering innovation. As the programme continues to scale its impact, it reaffirms its commitment to building a brighter, more inclusive future for the country through entrepreneurship.
First Secretary at the Royal Netherlands Embassy, Bram Elmer van Opijnen, in his opening address commended the young entrepreneurs for their innovative solutions to local challenges and creating actual jobs in the country.
“I think what you all are doing is very admirable and we are happy from our perspective that we can support your enthusiasm and focus on your drive to change the country through entrepreneurship for many years.
“We want to thank Growth Africa for their support and assisting you to set up and grow your companies, also contributing to the country’s development,” he added.
Growth Catalyst at GrowthAfrica, Eugene Eluerkeh, for his part noted that the Gazelle Pitch Day is a testament to the resilience, creativity and potential of young business leaders. He also reiterated that with support, young enterprising Ghanaians will do more.
“Our mission at GrowthAfrica is to catalyse the growth of high-impact entrepreneurs. We are honoured to support their journey and look forward to witnessing their contributions in Ghana’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.”
Representatives from programme partners, including Fidelity Bank Ghana, underscored the importance of collaboration in fostering innovation.
“Fidelity Bank Ghana is proud to support this initiative as part of our continued commitment to empowering young entrepreneurs. We are thrilled to be part of this vibrant ecosystem and are looking forward to seeing how these entrepreneurs will contribute in the growth and development of Ghana’s economy,” the representative said.
At the Gazelle Pitch Day, 15 entrepreneurs showcased their businesses to a panel of distinguished investors and partners. The event highlighted innovative solutions across diverse sectors including technology, green mobility, sustainable agriculture and inclusive fashion, reflecting the transformative potential of Ghana’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The Cohort 9 journey has been marked by a series of intensive workshops, tailored mentorship sessions and the support of seasoned industry leaders. The post-acceleration phase, lasting 9-12 months, ensures that entrepreneurs continue to receive guidance as they execute their growth plans.
