The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has unveiled a major package of logistical support for Colts Clubs as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots football development across the country.
GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku announced the measures at the launch of the 2026/27 Colts Football Season on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
The support will provide clubs with equipment for matches and training, while helping to create better conditions for the development of young footballers.
Through a partnership with Hoshi International, marketers and distributors of X1 Energy Drink, the GFA has secured 3,000 footballs for distribution to Colts Clubs nationwide.
The donation adds to the Football Association’s annual investment of US$100,000 in the procurement of footballs for grassroots football. The funding is intended to ensure young players have access to the basic equipment needed to develop their skills.
Hoshi International’s partnership with the GFA will also provide 15,000 jerseys for Colts Clubs across the country as they prepare for the new season.
The package includes a further 15,000 pairs of casual shoes, extending the logistical assistance available to clubs and supporting the broader development of the Colts football structure.
Each Colts Club will also receive 10 footballs per season for the next three seasons. In addition, every club will be supplied with two sets of football bibs each season during the same three-year period.
The GFA said the measures represented a sustained practical commitment to the grassroots game and would help ensure the Colts system remained a viable pathway for identifying, nurturing and developing young football talent.
The season launch brought together members of the GFA Executive Council, Regional Football Association Chairmen, Colts legends, club representatives, national team coaches and other stakeholders from across Ghana football.
Among those in attendance were KGL Foundation Programmes Manager Nii Sarpei, GFA Technical Director Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah, Juvenile Committee Chairman JoeSalam Abubakar and former Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan.
Asamoah Gyan is himself a product of the Colts football system, and his presence alongside other former Colts players underlined the importance of grassroots football in the development of Ghanaian talent.
The gathering also brought together administrators, technical officials, partners and club representatives, highlighting the system’s continuing role in producing players who go on to represent Ghana at the highest level.
