Farid Alfa-Ruprecht scores in Hertha victory over VfL Osnabruck

German-Ghanaian midfielder Farid Alfa-Ruprecht scored in stoppage time as Hertha BSC defeated VfL Osnabruck 3-1 in the Bundesliga 2.

The result extended Hertha’s excellent run and underlined their attacking strength in a lively contest at the Bremer Brucke.

The first half ended goalless, with both teams struggling to turn promising positions into clear chances. Hertha finally broke through five minutes after the restart when Josip Brekalo found the net, giving the visitors a narrow advantage.

Hertha then increased the pressure and doubled their lead in the 70th minute through Kevin Sessa. Osnabruck were handed a route back into the match after VAR awarded them a penalty, but Robin Meißner failed to convert, with Hertha goalkeeper Marius Gersbeck making the save.

Jonathan Gomez eventually reduced the deficit for Osnabruck in the 82nd minute, setting up a tense finish. Hertha remained composed, however, and settled the contest in the second minute of added time.

Alfa-Ruprecht, who came on in the 77th minute, finished a fast break from inside the box to complete the 3-1 victory. His late contribution capped a strong substitute appearance and gave Hertha valuable momentum.

Hertha will face Dresden in the Bundesliga 2 on September 19.
