German-Ghanaian midfielder Roberto Massimo scored as SV Wehen Wiesbaden defeated Fortuna Koln 2-0 in the 3. Liga.
The victory at the Franz-Kremer-Stadion gave Wehen a valuable boost after a difficult start to the campaign.
Massimo opened the scoring in the 13th minute, finishing an attack created by Ben Nink. His early strike settled the visitors and gave them a platform to control the match.
Wehen doubled their advantage just before halftime when Moritz Flotho scored in the 44th minute, again with Nink providing the assist. Fortuna Koln struggled to find a response after the break, particularly after Ayoub Chaikhoun was sent off for a second yellow card in the 60th minute.
Massimo started the contest and was substituted by Robin Kalem after 61 minutes. His goal was his first of the league season, taking his campaign tally to one goal in four appearances.
The result moved Wehen closer to improving their league position, while Fortuna Koln were left frustrated by their inability to recover from the early deficit. Massimo’s contribution will provide further encouragement as he continues to establish himself in the side.
SV Wehen Wiesbaden will return to 3. Liga action against Duisburg on September 20.
