The Ghana Police Service has dismissed claims circulating in a viral video alleging that individuals in Nsawam Adoagyiri blocked roads and set fires to protest the Electoral Commission’s (EC) collation exercise on December 21, 2024.
In an official statement, the police clarified that the incident depicted in the video occurred on December 8, 2024, and is currently under investigation.
They emphasized that there is no connection between the video and the recent collation exercise in Accra.
The police have urged the public to disregard the false claims and remain calm, assuring that adequate security measures are in place in and around Nsawam Adoagyiri to maintain law and order.
The Nsawam Adoagyiri constituency has been a focal point of electoral tensions following the December 7 elections.
The collation process was initially halted due to disruptions at the collation center.
A High Court in Accra subsequently ordered the EC to proceed with the collation and declaration of results, leading to the confirmation of Frank Annoh-Dompreh as the winner of the parliamentary seat.
In light of these events, the police have intensified efforts to ensure peace and security in the area, urging residents to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement authorities.
