Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo
The Chief Justice (CJ), Sophia Akuffo, has promised to support lepers in the country every month through the Lepers Aid Committee (LAC).
Though the CJ did not disclose the amount, she said it would be her contribution to the lepers and the less-privildeged in the country.
Chief Justice Akuffo made the pledge at the Lepers Aid Committee Choral Concert 2018, at the Christ the King Parish, in Accra, last Sunday.
The Winneba Youth Choir, Accra Symphony Orchestra and Lumina, sang Christmas carols to the admiration of the audience.
The occasion was also aimed at soliciting funds to assist lepers at Enyidado, in Ankaful of the Central Region, with borehole, electricity and toilet facilities.
According to the Chief Justice, appealed to individuals and organisations to seek the welfare of lepers by supporting them with food, clothing, detergents, and other needs.
Chief Justice Ms Akuffo commended the LAC and its chairman Rev Fr. Andrew Campbell, for working hard to alleviate the plights of lepers in the country.
Rev. Fr. Campbell said the committee sought to solicit finds for the less privileged and neglected lepers, including those at Anakful, Nkachina, Ho, Weija and Kokofu Leprosaria.
He said last year, individuals and organisations supported a leprosy unit project at Kokofu of the Ashanti Region, and asked the public to assist the Enyidado project.
“We are hoping to raise GH?200.00 to give lepers of the Enyidado community a decent life,” Rev. Fr. Campbell added.
