The Enterprise Support and Community Development Trust (ESCDT) has called upon the Ga West Municipality to regulate the levies on its members in the community and should also open up for a broader consultation with all the stakeholders.
Mr Clement Nii Lamptey Wilkinson, the Ga West Municipal Chief Executive, in an interview with GNA agreed with ESCDT on the issues they raised and also expressed the concern for the assembly to draft an MoU to address their concerns.
He also said that there would be a broader consultation which would involve ESCDT executives, trade unions and all stakeholders involved in other to improve revenue collection in the municipality.
The three days’ workshop was organised by the ESCDT, a non-governmental organisation at Ampax Hotel at Pokuase in the Greater Accra Region.
The workshop was to address levies concerns raised by members of ESCDT and the unfair treatment by the Assembly in the Municipality.
Mr Wilkinson said ESCDT concerns will be addressed as revenue was key for development and urged business owners and traders not to fail in honouring their tax obligations to enable the assembly to meet its social responsibilities.
Madam Cynthia Boadu, the President of the ESCDT, urged the revenue collectors to embark on serious revenue education to make the people aware of their civic obligation in nation building.
