According to reports, the couple and their 5-year old child were in their pickup truck double cabin when unknown persons shot and set their vehicle ablaze.
The Prampram Divisional Police Commander, ACP Dodzi Hlordzi, in a Citi News interview said that the deceased, Quao Omar, a 50-year-old livestock farmer, his wife, Dally Tetteh, 40, and their five-year-old boy were shot before being set on fire.
“We received the call at 7:30, Thursday evening, so we quickly mobilised and came here. Upon arriving, we saw that the vehicle and the three people were burnt beyond recognition. You cannot even identify or see anything in the vehicle. Not even the vehicle number or the colour of the vehicle,” he said.
“We also saw three pellets supposedly fired from an automatic weapon near their vehicle which had the charred bodies,” he added
A brother of the deceased, John Narh also told Citi News that even though he doesn’t know what happened, he has reason to believe that the gruesome act was perpetrated by some assailants in the community.
“I don’t know how it happened. I was coming from somewhere when I heard the issue. So, I rushed here to see it for myself,” he said.
Meanwhile, ACP Hlordzi said the bodies have been sent to the Police Hospital morgue and the police are probing the matter.
He appealed to the residents to remain calm as they investigate to bring the culprits to book.
