The 24-year-old midfielder abrogated his contract with the Cairo-based club just six months into his two year contract with local media attributing the termination to his poor form and injuries.
But in an exclusive interview with the Graphic Sports online on Thursday, the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) gold wining midfielder cited irregular play time as the reason for mutually terminating his contract.
“I was getting frustrated by the irregular play time with Isamily so I decided to mutually terminate my contract with them so I can pursue interest elsewhere” he stated.
Abbey said although he sustained a knee injury at the beginning of his contract, speculation linking his fitness to the reason for the termination was false because he was fully fit and actively participating in the club’s activities before parting ways with them.
The SWAG Footballer of the Year for 2017 said he was negotiating for a new contract with a club outside and was waiting for the deal to be sealed before he would come out with any announcement.
He also dispelled any suggestions of joining his former club, Accra Hearts of Oak, although he claimed the club was still making efforts at baiting him back to their fold.
