“Most of the youth in the district are using tramadol and other hard drugs which is motivating them to commit crimes”, he revealed on Kumasi-based Hello FM.
Dozens were injured on Saturday, 3rd February 2018, after some Zongo youth and residents of Ahwiaa were involved in bloody clashes.
The fight occurred in the early hours with the factions attacking each other with machetes, broken bottles and other weapons after the town folks had prevented the Zongo youth from participating in a burial and funeral rites of a deceased lady.
Speaking about the development on a local radio station, the DCE stated he is not surprised about the incident since most of the youth in the area are using tramadol and other hard substances to cause confusions all time.
“They were even determined to kill everyone who comes their way even the police Commander and other security personnel dispatched to calm down the situation”, Nana Osei Bonsu said
“It was a pathetic scene and everyone was alarmed”, he bemoaned stating his outfit is ever ready to help police arrest offenders.
Calm has since returned to the town while the joint military and police personnel are still in the town to make sure there is no a recurrence. Read Full Story
