Senegal and DR Congo shared the spoils after a 1-1 draw in their second Group D encounter at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday.
The first half was a cagey affair, with both teams cancelling each other out in a tightly contested and tactical battle that produced few clear-cut chances.
The match sprang to life after the break, and it was the Leopards who broke the deadlock in the 61st minute. Cédric Bakambu was alert inside the box, reacting quickest to a rebound from Theo Bongonda’s effort and capitalising on a rare lapse from Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy to put DR Congo ahead.
Senegal responded positively and found an equaliser just eight minutes later. Sadio Mané showed his class with a composed finish to restore parity and keep the defending champions firmly in the contest.
Despite late pressure from both sides, neither could find a winner as the match ended all square.
