Ghanaian defender Roy Boateng scoops double award in US lower-tier league

Ghanaian defender Roy Boateng has been named the best Defensive and All Conference Player of the season in the US Conference Big West League.

The budding guardsman was in top form in the just ended campaign for US side UC Davis as his efforts helped the side to its first North Division title since 2012 and became the Aggies two all-region recipient of the award for the first time since 2008.

In total, players from six Big West squads were selected, including two each from Cal State Fullerton, CSUN and UC Davis, with one apiece from Sacramento State, UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara.

The All-Far West Region consists of schools from the Big West, Pac-12 and West Coast conferences.

Boateng helped Santa Rosa United win a Cal-Cup title and a State Cup in 2013.
