Accra, July 24, GNA - Lojaanor, a product of ProFish Ghana Limited will launch its operational facility on Friday, July 19 to enable its customers access fresh wholesome seafood and fish from local fisher folks.
The operational facility, which also serves as a pick-up, point is located in Roman Ridge and will be opened to the public from Monday, 22nd July, 2019.
This was contained in a statement issued to Ghana News Agency by Ms Caroline Pomeyie, Chief Executive Officer of ProFish Ghana Limited.
The statement said Lojaanor which means ‘fish market’ in the Ga local dialect is a platform that ensures that individuals access healthy fish products fresh from water source and also create market access for local fisher folks and fish farmers.
"The aim is to promote healthy eating and access to quality fish products.
"According to the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development (MOFAD), fish constitutes 60 per cent of protein eaten in Ghana.
"Annually, the country consumes 950,000 metric tonnes of fish with 60 per cent imported into the country meanwhile local fishermen face difficulties accessing markets.
"We commend MOFAD for implementing closed seasons to curb the challenge of dwindling marine stock in recent times and also initiating the Aquaculture for Food and Jobs policy.
"Lojaanor is a digital supply chain platform created by ProFish Ghana Limited to provide market access for fisher folks and fish farmers as well as enable health conscious individuals access wholesome fish products.
"By just dialing *800*28#, individuals can place orders for a wide variety of sea food products.
"The company seeks to promote food security by ensuring that the local fish industries build sustainable production.
"The company won the Kosmos Innovation Center Agritech Challenge in 2018 and are currently finalists in the upcoming Pitch Agrihack 2019", the statement said.
