Sunyani, June 09, GNA - A total of 49,127 candidates in the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions would be writing the 2018/2019 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) from Monday, June 10 to Friday, June 14 at 178 examination centres.
The number comprised of 25,508 males and 23,619 females but comparatively, 48,093 candidates that consisted of 25,367 males and 22,726 females wrote the examination at 166 centres in the three regions which was then the Brong-Ahafo Region in the 2017/2018 academic year.
Mr. Samuel Opoku Adjei, the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service Directorate responsible for the three regions told the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Sunyani.
The candidates for this year had been prepared by 1,671 schools with over 1,637 invigilators, which translated to an average of one invigilator to 30 students, he said.
Mr. Adjei cautioned the candidates against involvement in examination malpractices since that could lead to the cancelation of a candidate’s or school’s entire results to waste the investments made in them by their parents.
