Omanhene of Juaben builds Chapel for Catholic Church to mark 76th birthday

The Omanhene of the Juaben Traditional Area, Nana Otuo Siriboe II, has built and handed over a chapel to young worshippers of the St. Stephen’s Catholic Church at Juaben in the Ashanti Region.

The gesture was part of activities to commemorate his 76th birthday and the 50th-anniversary of his enstoolment as the Paramount Chief of the Juaben Traditional Area.

Speaking at an event to hand over the newly built chapel to the leadership of the Catholic Church in the area, Nana Otuo Siriboe II said the building that was being used as a place of worship for young people at the church was in a dilapidated state and needed to be rebuilt.

He indicated that he intervened to build the facility after he realized it could no longer be used for the purpose for which it was built and had become risky for its occupants.

“The Catholic Church at Juaben needed a befitting place of worship for children because the old facility that was built 70 years ago was in a dilapidated state and posed danger to the children. When it came to my notice, I took up the initiative to construct a place of worship for the children”, he said

He called on religious leaders in the country and other stakeholders to take charge in the upbringing of children since they will grow to become leaders in the future.

He indicated that providing education, healthcare and other needs for children was necessary, but was more important for leaders to focus on their right upbringing, so they can be God-fearing as they grow.

Nana Otuo Siriboe II, who was enstooled 50 years ago as the Paramount Chief, has contributed immensely towards enhancing quality education, healthcare delivery, road infrastructure, and youth empowerment in the Juaben Traditional Area.

The Paramount Chief, who doubles as the Chairman of the Council of State, pledged to bring more development to the area to improve the lives of his people.

The Konongo-Mampong Bishop of the Catholic Diocese, Bishop Joseph Osei Bonsu, and members of the Church in the area were full of praise for Nana Otuo Siriboe II for the gesture.

Bishop Osei Bonsu said the Paramount Chief was a visionary leader who used his influential position to bring development to the area, thereby impacting positively on the lives of the people.
