Black Stars midfielder, Ebenezer Ofori, will have to find a new club for the rest of the 2018/2019 season after he was not given a new contract by New York City FC.
The MLS side announced the latest development on Thursday as it sought to plan its squad for the 2019 MLS season.
Ofori was one of 7 players whose contracts were declined by New York City FC and the team’s sporting director former US international, Claudio Reyna, expressed his gratitude to all the players who were leaving the club.
“While we continue to have discussions with a number of these players ahead of the 2019 season, we would like to sincerely thank all the players for their contributions to the Club. Saying goodbye is always difficult but we wish each of them the very best in their careers.”
Ofori had been with the team since February this year on loan from German Bundesliga side, Stuttgart. He scored once in his 28 appearances in both the regular and post seasons.
It is unclear what Ofori’s fortunes will be as he technically returns to Stuttgart since the season is still in session.
Stuttgart are currently bottom of the Bundesliga on 8 points from 12 matches.
