The Paramount Chief of the Sefwi Anwhiaso Traditional Area, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, has been elected the new president of the Western Regional House of Chiefs.
Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi replaces Osabarima Enimil, who until a recent court ruling, was the Paramount chief of the Wassa Fiase Traditional Area.
Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II had 8 of the 15 votes to beat his contender, who was acting as the Regional House of Chiefs President, Nana Kwesi Agyemang IX, after he had 7 votes.
Awulae Amihere Kpanyinli III, Paramount Chief of the Eastern Nzema Traditional Area, polled 8 votes to beat his contender Okogyeaman Kweku Gyampra, who had 7 of the 15 votes.
Nana Kobina Nketsia V, Paramount Chief of the Essikadu Traditional Area, Awulae Atibrukusu, Paramount chief of Upper Dixcove, Awulae Annor Agyei, Paramount chief of the Western Nzema Traditional Area, all made it to represent the Western Region at the National House of Chiefs.
