Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum expressed his frustration over his team’s missed opportunities in Sunday’s match against Karela United at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
Despite creating several chances, Kotoko were held to a 1-1 draw, extending their winless streak in the Ghana Premier League.
Ogum lamented the team’s profligacy in front of goal, believing that the missed chances could have secured a victory. He said in a post-match interview, “If you look at the chances we missed and the way we played right from the blast of the whistle to the end, especially in the second half… The chances we created, we missed, that wasn’t the result I was expecting.”
Kotoko’s disappointing start to the season has raised concerns among fans and put pressure on Ogum and his players. After three games, they find themselves trailing league leaders Bofoakwa Tano, a newly promoted team, by five points. Kotoko have recorded two draws and one defeat in their opening matches.
The coach and the team will need to regroup and improve their performance to turn their season around and meet the expectations of their supporters. Their next game is in the capital against Accra Lions.
