Nigeria winger Ademola Lookman has moved swiftly to dispel any concerns of a rift within the Super Eagles camp, assuring fans that fellow striker Victor Osimhen is his "brother" following a heated on-pitch argument during their 4-0 victory over Mozambique.
The altercation occurred in the second half of the AFCON round of 16 clash, with the two players seen in a vigorous exchange shortly after the hour mark. Despite Lookman having already scored once and provided two assists for Osimhen in the match, the Galatasaray star was heard emphatically stating "it's a team game" during the dispute.
After the final whistle, Lookman downplayed the incident, attributing it to the heat of competition. "There is no problem. It's just football; it's always football," he told reporters. When pressed for a message to his teammate, he simply affirmed, "He's my brother."
The moment was also addressed by team captain Wilfred Ndidi, who framed it as a product of a "competitive mentality" and a shared desire to score more goals.
Lookman has been in exceptional form at the tournament, contributing three goals and five assists. The minor friction did little to disrupt Nigeria's dominant performance, as they comfortably advanced to the quarter-finals.
