In the recently concluded New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries, several constituencies saw the emergence of new parliamentary candidates.
These victories are expected to bring fresh perspectives and renewed energy to the party as it gears up for the upcoming general elections.
In the Orphan Constituencies of the NPP, Justice King Essel, an educationist, toppled two-time parliamentary aspirant Alhaji Labaran Yakubu Barry in the Ashaiman constituency. Out of the total 1,460 votes cast, Mr. Essel secured 849 votes, while Labaran received 514 votes. Thomas Adongo Abotianga claimed 97 votes. The rejected votes amounted to 2.
The Kpandai Parliamentary primary witnessed a tight race between Richard Nyamah and Matthew Nyindam. With a total of 682 votes, Nyindam emerged as the winner, while Nyamah received 60 votes.
In the Ledzorkuku constituency, Bernard Okoe Boye, Chief Executive of the National Health Insurance Authority, won the parliamentary primary with a significant margin. Boye secured 901 votes, surpassing his competitors Nii Ashitey Ollennu with 357 votes and Ibrahim Adjei with 180 votes.
The Adentan Constituency saw Akosua Manu, also known as Kozie, emerging victorious by receiving 814 votes. Kwasi Fosu came second with 638 votes, while Winifred Nartey garnered 18 votes.
In the Awutu Senya West constituency, Eugene Arhin, the Director of Communications at the Jubilee House, won the parliamentary primary by securing 862 votes. His contender, Kofi Opei Okai, received 119 votes.
At the Shai Osudoku Constituency, Benjamin Nagne secured 283 votes, followed by Jonas Opata with 180 votes. Awatey Kwesi Noah claimed 148 votes, while Archibald Tawiah received 64 votes.
The campaign leading up to the primaries was marked by intensity, with candidates tirelessly engaging with constituents and outlining their visions for their respective regions. The newly elected parliamentary candidates are now expected to unite the party and work towards securing victories in their respective constituencies in the upcoming general elections.
