The National Secretariat of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has released a press statement outlining the protocols that will govern the upcoming parliamentary primaries scheduled for Saturday, January 27, 2024.
These protocols aim to ensure the integrity and fairness of the electoral process.
According to the statement, there will be one voting center in each constituency across the country.
However, in constituencies with a large number of delegates, the Electoral Commission (EC) may establish additional polling stations at the center to expedite the process.
The NPP has called on all stakeholders to adhere to these provisions to ensure a smooth and transparent election.
The EC will take charge of supervising the overall conduct of the primaries, with the responsibility of ensuring a transparent, free, and fair election. The statement warns that no individual, whether a government appointee, party official, or otherwise, should act contrary to the Electoral Commission and the guidelines set out.
Security activities will be exclusively handled by the Ghana Police Service, with access beyond the security perimeters strictly limited to delegates, persons appointed by the National Secretariat and Region as election supervisors, contestants, and their accredited agents. This measure aims to maintain a controlled environment during the voting process.
The NPP aims to create a level playing field for all candidates and ensure that the outcome of the parliamentary primaries reflects the will of the party members. All individuals involved are expected to comply with the protocols to guarantee a transparent and fair process.
