The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has raised serious allegations against the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing the party of orchestrating deliberate disruptions during the collation of parliamentary election results in multiple constituencies.
The NPP at a press conference in on Monday, December 16, at the party’s headquarters in Accra claimed that these actions, allegedly carried out by NDC “hoodlums” with the consent of their leadership, were targeted at constituencies where the NDC lost.
According to the NPP, the NDC’s disruptive tactics include:
- Destroying pink sheets and other crucial electoral documents.
- Vandalizing ballot boxes and other election materials.
- Assaulting electoral officers and party representatives who resist their actions.
- Issuing threats and intimidating individuals who oppose their actions.
- Expelling members of the National Elections Security Taskforce from collation centres.
- Aborting the collation process in cases where their candidates are losing.
- Forcing Returning Officers to declare NDC parliamentary candidates as winners.
These alleged acts of lawlessness were reportedly recorded during the collation of results in the following constituencies:
- Ablekuma North
- Okaikwei Central
- Tema Central
- Dome Kwabenya
- Ahafo Ano North
- Obuasi East
- Ahafo Ano South West
- Akwatia
- Suhum
- Fanteakwa North
- Nsawam-Adoagyiri
- Techiman South

The NPP has further questioned why the NDC would destroy electoral evidence, such as pink sheets and ballot papers, if they genuinely believed they had won the elections in these constituencies.
The ruling party argues that the only plausible explanation for such actions is that the NDC knows it has lost and is attempting to obstruct the collation process to invalidate results and claim undeserved victories.
The party in conclusion opined that they would demonstrate that their candidates were the rightful winners in the affected constituencies.
They have called on the police to investigate these alleged acts of misconduct and ensure that perpetrators face the full force of the law.
