Former Chelsea and England midfielder Frank Lampard has been named head coach of Coventry City on a two-and-a-half-year contract.
The 46-year-old takes over with the Sky Blues sitting 17th in the Championship, just two points above the relegation zone.
Lampard replaces Mark Robins, who was dismissed earlier this month after a seven-year tenure. This marks the first managerial appointment by club owner Doug King since acquiring Coventry City in January 2023.
The role is Lampard’s fifth in management, following stints with Derby County, Everton, and two spells at Chelsea, including his most recent position as interim manager at Stamford Bridge, which ended in May 2023. Since then, he has primarily worked as a media pundit.
Lampard will aim to steer Coventry to safety and revitalise their season, with his first test coming on Saturday in a home clash against Cardiff City.
