Asante Kotoko’s head coach, Prosper Ogum, has asked fans to remain patient despite the Porcupine Warriors suffering their third successive league defeat of the season against Bechem United on Sunday.
Kotoko narrowly lost 1-0 to Bechem United at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park as Kofi Tompo’s first-half volley for the hosts made the difference at full-time.
The latest defeat adds to previous losses against Legon Cities and Heart of Lions, compounding the pressure on head coach Prosper Ogum.
Despite the brilliant start made by the record Ghana Premier League champions, winning four of their first six games, their recent slump – losing three games and drawing once in their last four games, has left fans enraged as Kotoko have slipped to sixth on the league log.
“I think this is not the result they are expecting,” Ogum said in his post-match presser.
“I want to ask them that they should still be patient with us, we will bounce back strongly. We will make them happy. They should just be patient with us. I am sure the players we have now know the caliber of team they are playing now, so they will be used to it. So, they should be patient with us, still support us and we will put the smiles back on their faces,” he added
Kotoko’s woeful run at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park continued, as the team is yet to record a win in Bechem since 2016.
The Porcupine Warriors face a daunting task in overturning their fortunes as they are up against second-placed Nations FC in a must-win game next weekend, before playing Aduana Stars and fierce rivals Hearts of Oak.
