Mother of the 15-year-old boy who was first diagnosed with the first confirmed MPox case in the country has become the second case of the disease in the county.
The mother was among some 25 contacts traced to the first confirmed case, according to Director of Public Health at the Ghana health Service Dr. Franklyn Asied-Bekoe.
These contacts, according to health officials, are being monitored for 21 days so that if some are confirmed as cases, they can be managed immediately.
Other contacts linked to the mother are also being traced at the moment as part of efforts to contain the spread while the communities are also being combed for cases.
The country confirmed its first case of MPox in the Western North region with 230 suspected cases which confirmed negative in 88 districts in all 16 regions.
Following the confirmation, health authorities revealed that awareness creation and security would to be tightened at all port of entries across the country.
The general public is entreated to report all cases of lesions to the nearest health centre and avoid self-medication. The Ghana Health Service is yet to release an official statement on the latest case.
