Berekum Chelsea ended a two-game winless streak in the Ghana Premier League with a dramatic late victory over Asante Kotoko on Saturday afternoon.
Chelsea had to come from behind to claim a crucial win at the Berekum Golden City Park.
Kotoko started strong, with their reliable Ugandan striker Steven Mukwala opening the scoring after 15 minutes. Mukwala, left unmarked in the penalty area, planted a brilliant header beyond the goalkeeper, giving Kotoko an early lead.
Chelsea, however, responded just before halftime. Stephen Amankonah converted a penalty following a careless foul by Kotoko goalkeeper Moise Pouaty. The equaliser meant the teams went into the break level, setting the stage for an intense second half.
Both teams pushed for a winner in the second half, but it was Amankonah who delivered for Chelsea. In the 95th minute, he scored again, sealing the victory for Chelsea and ending their losing streak.

The defeat is a setback for Kotoko, who were hoping to continue their climb up the table but now find themselves in the bottom half.
In contrast, Chelsea’s win propels them to fourth place, much to the delight of coach Samuel Boadu, who has a storied history with Kotoko’s rivals, Hearts of Oak. This result could benefit the Phobians, who have the chance to leapfrog Kotoko with a win against Aduana FC on Sunday.
In other action, Legon Cities continued their impressive form, securing a 2-1 victory over Great Olympics on Saturday, marking their third win in four games.
