Tanzania coach Miguel Gamondi says tactical discipline on the pitch will play a huge role in grinding results against Nigeria in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations opening game.
The Taifa Stars will lock horns with the Super Eagles in a high-stake Group C clash on Tuesday, with both teams seeking for a flying start to the continental showpiece.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Gamondi anticipated a tough clash against a Nigerian team renowned for its attacking firepower, led by Victor Osimhen alongside Samuel Chukwueze and Ademola Lookman.
Meanwhile, Tanzania will be seeking their first-ever victory over Nigeria at this level of competition.
“We need to be realistic, when you see the qualities in the Nigeria team you need to put in more than 100 percent effort to try to neutralize them. Our mentality is to try to play and attack as well, we need to be tactically discipline,” said Gamondi at a pre-match conference on Monday.
Nigeria will be aiming for a successful tournament, having missed out on World Cup for the second consecutive, while Tanzania aim to upset the Super Eagles.
