Six incumbent regional executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Eastern Region have been retained uncontested in the upcoming regional delegates election to be held Saturday April 21, 2018.
The executives are the Regional Chairman, Kingston Okomeng Kissi, the incumbent Regional Youth Organizer Jerry Osei -Opoku, Ben Kumi, the Treasurer, Jeff Konadu, the Regional Secretary (new entrant), Yaw Papin, the Deputy Regional Secretary, and Kwame Appiah Kodua, the Regional Organizer.
Some of these executives went unopposed due to disqualification during vetting and withdrawal from the race by some of the aspirants.
All eyes are however on the Regional First Vice Chairman position which is keenly been contested by incumbent Alhaji Umar Bodinga and his challenger, Michael Oteng Adu, former New Juaben South NPP Constituency Chairman.
Mr. Oteng Adu currently the New Juaben Municipal Manager of the National Health Insurance Authority seems to be causing discomfort to his contender due to his equal political competence and commitment with good academic background which seems to give him competitive advantage on the face of analysis but Alhaji Bodinga continue to ride on his vast political experience and track record as the longest served executive among the current crop of leadership in the region.
Meanwhile, the second Vice Chairmanship position is being contested keenly by three aspirants – Richard Twum Barimah, Seth Otchere and James Appietu-Ankrah.
The incumbent Deputy Regional Women Organizer Fati Vondolie is being challenged by Mercy Amo Darkoah aka Obour and Josephine Sampson, aka Iron Lady, former New Juaben South NPP Women’s Organizer.
Four aspirants – Hussien Mohammed Fadilu, Alhaji Suraju Osman, Yakubu Mohammed, Kassim Alhassan and Sualihu Mohammed alias SMS, are also contesting for the Nasara Co-ordinator position.
A total of 644 delegates are expected to vote at the congress ground – All Nations University Conference Hall in Koforidua.
