Authorities at the Dunkwa-on-offin Nursing and Midwifery Training College in the Central Region are appealing to the municipal authorities in the area to step in in bringing to an end the taking over of their campus by squatters and drinking spots operators.
The activities of the squatters including the drinking bars according to the principal of the institution David Ben Sampson is affecting teaching and learning especially in the night as the drinking spots operators keep making noise to disturb students.
The squatters, he added are also denying the nursing institution space to undertake expansion projects on their land.
The drinking spots, he indicated are even sited close to the entrance of the school thereby flouting the ministry of health principles barring such activities to be sited close to health institutions including schools.
Failure of the authorities to help in clamping down on the said bars, he added could lead to the closure of the nursing and midwifery training with the community being the biggest loser as the town will lose all economic benefits that come with having the nursing institution in the area.
He made this known during the schools 2nd Graduation and 8th Matriculation ceremony at Dunkwa-on-Offin.
