Dariusz Adamczuk believes Widzew Lodz have taken a clear step toward their ambitions by securing the signature of Osman Bukari, a move he views as both strategic and timely.
The sporting director sees the winger as a player capable of lifting the team’s attacking edge and shaping its next phase of growth.
Bukari joined from Austin FC on a permanent deal that runs until June 2030, ending his short spell in Major League Soccer and opening a fresh chapter back in Europe. His profile fits what Widzew lacked earlier in the season, with speed, direct play, and the ability to stretch defenses from multiple attacking roles.
In MLS, Bukari remained a consistent presence, offering end product and work rate. Adamczuk believes those experiences now place him in a strong position to deliver in the Ekstraklasa.
“Osman Bukari is a footballer with a lot of quality to help the team achieve its goals. These do not change - we want to compete with the best and with time permanently fight for the best places in the league and the opportunity to play in Europe. His most important features are creativity, speed, creating an advantage in the third zone of the pitch - this is what we lacked in the autumn round. It is no secret that the player from this level was watched by many clubs from all over Europe, including us," said Dariusz Adamczuk.
"Thanks to the support of Robert Dobrzycki, we can reach for players from outside the current range of Polish clubs. The acceptance of coach Jovicievic was also very important, because we want to choose players for the model of the game preferred by the coach, concluded the Management Board's representative for sport. For the last year and a half, Osman has performed in MLS, and in earlier clubs he has recorded great achievements, played in strong European leagues. He hit the net in the Champions League and at the World Cup, which only confirms the level he represented," he added.
