Teachers of the Aduman Senior High School in the Afigya Kwabre district of the Ashanti region have laid down their tools in protest of the continuous stay of the schools head master Francis Yao Agorsor.
You will recall that in January this year, 85 out of the 99 teaching and non teaching staff submitted a number of petitions to the education ministry and the education service demanding that the headmaster be removed from office.
They accused Mr Agorsor of disrespecting and abusing teachers at will.
A three member committee was set up to investigate the claims after the teachers staged a sit down strike.
But the teachers complained they have not received any response from the committee which was supposed to finish its work in two weeks.
A teacher who has been speaking to Ultimate News on condition of anonymity discloses that the teachers are resolved to boycott anything to do with the upcoming final exams of the final year students as well as all other internal examinations, entertainment and school elections in the Aduman SHS.
“We are saying that if the headmaster stays there, we are not going to invigilate in the WASSCE and this might even spill to the internal exams because the teachers are actually angry,”
This teacher also discloses that the headmaster has begun victimizing teachers who signed the petition to have him removed from office.
He narrated, “He hasn’t changed and indeed he has the list of all those who signed the petition and we have evidence. A lady teacher went there for some days off. The head master brought out that list and insulted the lady till she came out crying.”
He pointed out that the teachers cannot sit aloof while their rights get trampled upon even though teachers have been threatened not to speak to the media about their grievances.
