The Danish Foreign Minister Anders Samuelsen has described slavery as ‘sinful and an unforgivable part of any history’.
According to him, nothing can justify slave trade which occurred in most parts of African countries.
Mr Samuelsen who is part of a delegation from the Danish government led by the Queen Margrethe II on an official visit to Ghana apologized to Ghanaians for the active role Danish played during the slave trade era.
Addressing journalists during a joint press conference with Shirley Ayorkor Botchway Minister of Foreign Affairs, he said, “We share a dark history of slave trade; it is sinful and an unforgivable part of any history. Nothing can justify it, the expectations of men, women and children, in which Denmark took part’.
Madam Ayorkor said the two countries are working together towards stemming the tide of illegal migration, particularly the activities of human traffickers.
‘We decided to work together towards stemming the tide of illegal migration, particularly the activities of human traffickers. At the same time we are committed to tackling the root causes of mass migration,” she stated.
