President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has charged Muslims to be wary of perverts who twist the Islamic faith for selfish and destructive purposes.
His admonition comes on the back of heightened world tension and insecurity stemming from terrorism often clad in the cloaks of Islam.
Speaking to Islamic clerics and leaders of the faith at the Black star square in the capital Accra the President pointed out that, “In as much as religion is functional and helps us to cope with the uncertainties of life, religion is a double edged sword that can also be invoked to destructive purposes.”
“Consequently, I urge all Ghanaian Muslims to be wary of eidolons that may pervert a beautiful religion such as Islam for selfish and destructive earns.”
Further admonishing Muslims he noted, “Whether you are Alla Asuna, Tejaniya, Shia or Al-Mahdiya, I remind you of the words of Allah captured in Quran chapter 3 verse 113 … ‘and hold fast all together by the rope Allah stretches to you and be not divided among yourselves and remember with gratitude, Allah’s favour on you. For you were enemies and you joined your hearts in love so that by his grace, you may become brethren’.”
“Let us continue to hold hands in brotherhood and unity for that is the essence of Islam,” he added.
Muslims across the country joined their brethren to mark the end to the thirty day Ramadan fast on Monday 26, 2017.
