Some youth groups believed to be Andanis and Abudus on Thursday engaged in a scuffle at Alabar, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti region.
The irate youth who went on rampage were spotted pelting stones at each other.
According to the police, the Abudus are members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) who attempted to take over the Alabar/Tamale lorry station from Andanis purported to be members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) arguing that their government has taken over power.
Staff of the erstwhile Mahama-government at the lorry station resisted the seizure which resulted in a fight between the two parties.
According to the Abudus/NPP, the Andanis/NDC chased them out of the offices of the lorry station when they assumed power in 2009.
Passengers who are traveling to the northern and Brong Ahafo regions have been stranded at the lorry station because the drivers have stopped working.
Six persons have been arrested to assist police in investigations.
