The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo-Prampram constituency Sam George has suggested to the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to be mindful of his current status and desist from acting as if he were on campaign platforms when giving speeches.

Mr George urged the President to wake up from the political campaign days where lots of propaganda go on just to score cheap political points.

Speaking on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkra, he said the President’s previous two failed attempts to climb the presidency might be having effect on his delivery.

He accused the President of throwing dust in the eyes of the public when he delivered his State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Tuesday painting a gloomy picture about the erstwhile Mahama’s administration leaving out the good record.

Mr George indicated that the President failed to meet the expectations of Ghanaians adding that there were lots of areas he failed to tackle on.

He was obliged to tell the true state of the economy and not to act as if he were on a campaign rally.

‘The President should know that he is no more on campaign platforms, he should behave as such, he should bear in mind that his status has changed and must behave as such, instead of talking about issues that will improve Ghana, he didn’t, he refused to talk as the President of Ghana. He painted a bad picture about the erstwhile Mahama’s administration, he only talked about the liabilities without commenting on the assets. People might think that the former President Mahama never left any assets for the country but left debt. This doesn’t depicts the true state of the economy. He rather talked as if he was on campaign platforms, that is not the right thing to do,’ he blasted.

Commenting on the debt portfolio of the country disclosed by the President, he explained that some of the money was heavily invested in the vessel named after the former President John Agyekum Kufour ‘FPSO Kufour’, Sankofa fields and other projects.

The minority in Parliament on Wednesday during a press conference read by the minority leader Haruna Iddrisu accused the President of giving a SONA filled with distortions and half truths.
