The Chairman of the Appointments Committee of Parliament Joe Osei Owusu on Wednesday maintained his stance that bribery allegations levelled against him were concocted.
Mr Osei-Owusu is alleged to be a conduit of bribes forwarded by minister of energy Boakye Agyarko to some members of the committee prior to his approval.
The Bekwai Legislator who appeared as a first witness during the public hearing of an ad hoc committee to investigate the allegations which began its hearing today maintained that the stories were cooked to gain cheap political points.
‘They said this was created to level up the allegations against former President John Dramani Mahama, and I said yes it was, fortunately Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa walked to us and Hon K.T Hammond asked him, did you say that, and he said yes we wanted you to feel the same heat, as former President John Mahama is. In the face of this, I considered this to be some of the political games and I was willing to let it go, until Hon Mahama Ayariga MP for Bawku central went and sat at Joy FM, and continued this untruth about me.
In fact all publications that have come to my notice suggest that, they said the chairman was a conduit of distributing bribes, and they all comfortable reading all the publication without saying anything. None of them have discussed money with me at any point in time whether Alhaji Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka MP for Asawase and Minority Chief Whip or any member,’ he explained.
Four witnesses have been shortlisted for the public hearing on Friday.
They include: Alhaji Muntaka, Mr Ayariga and Energy Minister Mr Boakye Agyarko.
