Britain’s Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson has congratulated President-elect Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for winning Ghana’s presidential elections held on December 7, 2016.
Mr Johnson further congratulated President Mahama and the other five presidential candidates for their statesmanship.
In a statement, he said “I congratulate Nana Akufo-Addo on his election as president-elect of Ghana. I also pay tribute to John Dramani Mahama and the other presidential candidates for their statesmanship in accepting the result and respecting the will of the Ghanaian people’.
He praised Ghanaians for strengthening their democracy through the peaceful conduct of the election envisaging that their conduct will continue to inspire people across the region and the continent.
He indicated that UK is willing to work with Ghana “The UK values the excellent partnership it has with Ghana and I look forward to working with the new president and his government’.
