GPL W16 Round Up: Hearts beat Legon Cities, Kotoko hold Medeama as Hunters gun down Lions

Accra Hearts of Oak secured a 1-0 victory over Legon Cities at the Legon Sports Stadium on Friday night in the Ghana Premier League. The Phobians, under the guidance of Aboubakar Outtara, are very determined to clinch the GPL title, and in their quest to do that, Hearts went in strongly to score via Ahmed Ramzy Yussif. The win has seen the Phobians go 6th in the league log with 28 points.

On Sunday afternoon, Porcupine Warriors managed to secure a 1-1 draw in match week 16 of the 2024-2025 Ghana Premier League. Kotoko, who were aiming to extend their winning streak to five games, took the lead just before halftime when forward Kwame Opoku scored in the 44th minute.

Despite their early advantage, Kotoko couldn’t hold on to the lead as Medeama SC’s Mamudu Kamaradin equalised in the 68th minute, rewarding the Mauve and Yellows for their persistence.

At the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, Bechem United gunned down Hearts of Lions to record a resounding 3-0 victory.

Darlvin Yeboah broke the deadlock late in the first half, capitalising on a rebound after Lions' goalkeeper Lawrence Osei failed to handle a free kick.

The home side doubled their lead moments before halftime when Emmanuel Abban punished a defensive lapse to give Bechem a comfortable advantage heading into the break.

The Hunters maintained their intensity in the second half, and Abban struck again in the 71st minute to seal his brace and an emphatic victory.

Elsewhere at the Tuba Astro Turf, Dreams FC defeated Accra Lions 1-0.

Nations FC recorded a 3-1 victory over Basake Holy Stars. Razak Simpson, Charwetey, and Annor bagged the goals for Nations FC, with Emmanuel Adjie getting the consolation goal for Holy Stars.

Vision FC beat Nsoatreman FC 1-0 with Rafui Sulemana scoring the only goal of the game.

Young Apostles also recorded a 2-0 victory over Karela United.

Aduana Stars suffered a 0-1 defeat at home at the Nana Agyemang Badu I stadium in Dormaa.

Earlier on Saturday, Bibiani Gold Stars defeated Berekum Chelsea 2-0 at home.
