Medeama SC defeated Hearts of Oak 2-0 at the Akoon Community Park in their match day 25 clash of the Ghana Premier League (GPL).
Second-half goals by KobinaAmoah and Godfred Abban handed the Phobians their third defeat in a row after losing to Samartex and Gold Stars in Accra over the weekend.
Amoah, a centre-back, drilled home the opener through a powerful free-kick in the 65th minute before Godfred Abban put the icing on the cake eight minutes to regulation time.
It was the first win for the host in their last three games after losses to Accra Lions and Samartex.
Meanwhile, Emmanuel Owusu Boakye scored on the stroke of full time to hand league leaders, Samartex, a precious 1-1 draw against Legon Cities FC at Dawu.
Baba Hamadu Musah put the ball in his own net for the visitors in the 43rd minute as Cities appeared to be coasting to victory until Owusu Boakye’s late equaliser.
Owusu drilled home the much-needed equaliser to break hearts at the Theatre of Dreams – and put the Timber giants in firm control at the top of the table.
Samartex have now opened a three point lead at the summit of the table after second-placed, Nations FC, dropped points at struggling Real Tamale United.
At the Accra Sports Stadium, Accra Great Olympics left it late to draw 1-1 at home to Bechem United on Wednesday.
Mathew Agama scored seven minutes into stoppage time to deny Bechem a big win in the capital.
Cephas Mantey scored for Bechem United in the 81st minute and appeared to be cruising to victory but Olympics resilience paid off after Mathew Agama scored with the last kick of the match.
