About 17,000 'ghost' workers are yet to receive their April salary, the Ministry of Finance has said in a statement.

It said an additional 3,000 workers will receive their April salary by end of May after validation from the Finance Ministry.
The Finance Ministry said the payments amounted to 11.3 million cedis.

The latest payment follows hue and cry recently when the government denied more than 26,000 public workers their pay following their failure to undergo biometric registration.
The government declared them as ghosts on the payroll and hence they were removed. Many of the workers affected have since threatened legal action over the matter.
