British stocks down 0.21 percent Monday

British stocks closed down on Monday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 0.21 percent, or 15.46 points, to close at 7,511.87 points.

Johnson Matthey, a British multinational speciality chemicals and sustainable technologies company, soared 2.04 percent, becoming the top gainer of the blue chips. Royal Dutch Shell B and Tesco increased by 1.56 percent and 1.49 percent, respectively.

Mexican-based precious metals mining company Fresnillo was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 4.87 percent. The British multinational software and information technology Micro Focus International dropped 3.80 percent. ConvaTec Group, a global medical products and technologies company, fell 2.78 percent.
