Sunday’s OneLove Manchester concert headlined by Arianna Grande to raise money for the causalities of the Manchester bombing attack has raked in revenue in excess of £12m.
Revenue from ticket sales and the marketing the show raised over £2m while pledges and donations from across the world totaled £10m.
The American pop star was joined by many music superstars including Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Coldplay, Liam Gallagher, Pharell Williams, Mumford and Sons among others.
This concert was announced shortly after attenders of Arianna Grande’s concert in Manchester were attacked with a nail bomb in the foyer of the Manchester Arena leading to the loss of 22 lives.
It was a night of many highlights of good music and electrifying performances. But Arianna’s duet act with the young choristers of Parrs Wood High School of Manchester stood out as one of the most powerful moments of the concert. Together they soulfully sang Grande’s “My Everything.”
The moment when Arianna held a tearful young chorister when she broke down summed up the whole essence of the concert – that the show was meant to heal Manchester.
Revenue from the concert will be deposited in the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund which is superintended by the Manchester City Council and the British Red Cross.
After her performance with Miley Cyrus, an emotional Arianna said, “I love you so, so much. Thank you so much for coming together and being so loving and strong and unified. I love you guys so much, and I think the kind of unity you’re displaying is the medicine the world needs right now.”
The night ended on a rather romantic when Arianna Grande Grande hugged and pecked American rapper, Mac Miller, on the lips sparking wild rumours that the two may be seeing each other.
