The clock continues to tick for the commencement of National Science and Maths Quiz this June.
But even before the competition proper starts, the qualifiers for the TV show continue to take shape.
On Tuesday, Agogo State Senior High in the Ashanti region joined the list of schools who have already made it to the prelims.
In the last contest for the day, the Agogo-based school broke the status quo and shrugged off favourites, Tweneboa Kodua Agogo SHS. They scored an emphatic 46 points to beat the favourites by 21 points.
Wesley SHS, Konongo and Gyaama Pensan SHTS who were also part of the contest were nowhere close, collecting only 19 and 9 points respectively.
In another contest, Bekwai SDA SHS used 10 points to bolt past Ejisuman Senior High who scored 26 points.
Asare Bediako SHS trailed with 14 points while Sakafia Islamic SHS salvaged three points in four rounds.
Kumasi-based T.I. Amass, in another contest also scored the second highest points for the region so far, 53 points.
The heat was too much for and Asanteman SHS who easily ceded the opportunity to qualify for the prestigious quiz after falling behind with just 21 and 15 points respectively.
Aduman also managed to make it through albeit with 28 points. They beat Bonwire SHTS by eight points in a game that didn’t produce much points.
Akomadan SHS and Owerriman SHTS scored just nine and six respective points.
