Canon extends partnership with NAFTI

Canon Central and North Africa have extended its three-year partnership with the National Film and Television institute which will see the use of modern equipment in the institute.

The agreement, among other things, will help the school realize one of its goals of enhancing the quality of academic work.

At a press conference to announce the extension of the partnership, Katie Simmonds, Canon Miraisha program manager said the extension has become necessary due to the success of the agreement.

The partnership which was signed in 2016 with the technology company is an educational program for film and photography students as well as industry practitioners. 

“We are very much happy with the one-year extension because it will enable us to run more workshops, further enhance creative opportunities for photographers and those in the film industry”, she said.

Head of production at the school Kwamena Aboagye commended the camera makers.

He said “students of NAFTI have benefited a lot from this agreement. When we started most of the students were in 1^st year when canon came to partner with us. Through the resources that they provided the students have been able to do some excellent productions. You could see the difference between this and what we used to do. With the extension of one whole year, I think it will be a great benefit to the school.”

Key highlights for this year’s workshop are the training of participants on how to use the basic single lens reflex camera.

The students are expected to go on the streets of Accra to take pictures to portray the beauty of the city and explore the concept of wedding photography.

The workshop will run from the 3rd to the 7th of September, 2018.
