Tourism Minister, Catherine Afeku is expected to join other speakers at the launch of the 2018 Accra International Book Festival (AIBF).
Alongside the Accra Mayor, Mohammed Adjei Sowah, the two government appointees would share their views on how Accra could be made the tourism hub in West Africa.
Themed, ‘Amplify’, the event would be attended by writers, poets, illustrators, educationists, scientists, environmentalists, politicians and students.
It would be held at the Institute of African Studies at the University of Ghana on Tuesday, August 14, 2018.
Other speakers such as writer and human rights activist, Professor Esi Sutherland-Addy and Lancaster University Ghana Provost, Professor Anthony Jarvis would take turns to highlight how Ghanaian writers can “amplify the hurts, pains and worries of their people.”
The 2018 AIBF launch would be chaired by the Ghana Book Trust Executive Director, Genevieve Eba-Polley who doubles as a literalist.
The 2018 Accra International Book Festival scheduled for September is expected to attract over 10,000 participants.
At least eight world-class authors would share the platform with book lovers and some politicians in Ghana.
