SarkCess Music signee Strongman has apologised to his boss Sarkodie over some comments he made on social media about the label.
Prior to the 2018 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), the ‘Baby Girl’ hitmaker tweeted some comments that seemed to question the influence of the Sarkcess Music brand to land him award nominations.
He made the comments shortly after he received only a nomination for the 2018 awards.
He tweeted: “So everyday the #sarkeffect #sarkeffect you guys dey talk no, only one nomination for a whole transformer. This is very bad.”
Many have since been reading various meanings into the comments and have descended heavily on the rapper, insisting he took the tweet off social media.
However, the rapper told MzGee at the just ended awards that, his tweet was totally misinterpreted.
According to him he “wasn’t necessarily saying that his management is not doing enough.”
He clarified further saying, “I’m directing the arrow towards some people. When I do well, they attribute everything to Sark effect, but the moment something is wrong, they say the artiste is bad.”
In effect, he told MzGee that, he meant to carry across the message that without hard work, even a reputable brand like SarkCess Music would not have any effect on his career.
He cited his ability to garner one nomination at the VGMA as an indication of his hard work.
Addressing a question on whether or not his management found his comments offensive, he said “I know Sark, and we are that cool so he wouldn’t talk about it that much, and anyway, you know anytime you can call him and tell him you’re sorry. So maybe we did that behind the scene.”
Asked if he apologised to Sarkodie, he said, “yes”.
